Nigeria’s annual inflation increased to 19.64 percent in July from 18.60 percent the previous month, as price pressures continued to escalate, data released by the Nationale Bureau of Statistics show.

“This indicates a 1.82 percent month-on-month increase,” the statistics agency said in the latest consumer price index report published on its website. The general price level during the month was 2.26 percent more elevated compared with the same period last year.

Food inflation remains a key driver of prices, rising to 22.02 percent in July, with bread, cereals, potatoes, yam, meat, fish and cooking oil all showing increases.
